Lorna Holdcroft-Kirin

All Artists Gallery

Born in Surrey in 1967, Lorna trained at Wimbledon School of Art where she was awarded the prize for drawing and then went on to study for a BA Hons in Fine Art at North East Polytechnic. Lorna takes inspiration from her surrounding landscape in Sussex, as well as painting wildlife, flowers, trees and still life.
“Colour has always been central to my work and invariably is the initial inspiration for a new project. Whether it be the fantastic array of hues in tree bark, a thunderous Prussian blue sky or the sumptuous crimson of an amaryllis. I love playing with contrasts and like to push pigments to evoke a real sense of emotion and to make the subject resonate. With bold washes and thick textured brush marks I love to explore the possibilities that can be achieved with each media, evoking a real sense of immediacy and excitement.”
